The Text Toolbox

These one-day, text-focused workshops offer an introduction to Atomi Theatre Collective's Shakespeare devising method, which seeks to empower actors by improving classical text skills, honing the art of self-direction, and giving and receiving notes.

Actors will be assigned scenes from a chosen Shakespeare play ahead of the workshop. The play itself and scene assignments will be sent to all Workshop attendees upon confirmation. All attendees must read the play in full before the day of the Workshop.

The Violence Toolbox

Led by Atomi's resident Fight Director Daniel Light, this workshop focuses on acting through extreme moments of violence, how to follow intent through choreography, and how to create a  repeatable on-ramp and off-ramp from a violent scene.

While elements of choreography will certainly arise, this is not focused on teaching combat techniques. Rather, it is centered on taking the principles of acting and applying them to physical dialogue.

In other words; this is not a class focused around teaching how to throw a punch for the stage, but how to sell a punch for the stage
